The Butterfly and Caterpillar Classes
Caterpillar Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday 9:15am - 12:30pm
Butterfly Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
Children are eligible for our Twos classes at age One year and Eight months (or age Two on or before December 31st).
The Twos Program emphasizes social and self-help skills that are the basis of lifelong achievement and success. The teachers strive to instill a love of school and learning in a warm and nurturing environment. We focus on core skills like listening and following directions, sharing with others, showing empathy and waiting our turn. The children learn to become part of a small group who care for and about one another.
Creative activities like music, movement and finger-play enhance small and large motor development, while group circle and story time develop communication and language skills. The learning activities are all designed specifically to be “hands on,” and the art experiences focus on the “process, not the product”.
The overarching goal of our very special Twos Program is to foster creativity, curiosity and self-confidence.

3 Day Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
4 Day Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
or Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
5 Day Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
The Threes Program is devoted to promoting the natural curiosity of each child and developing their positive social skills. The children are encouraged to learn through play, while the structure of a daily routine fosters self-help skills and independence. The daily circle time, group projects and “independent play” enable the children to further hone their listening and sharing skills.
In addition, the teachers and children utilize age-appropriate centers - literacy, science, sensory, blocks, writing, manipulatives and dramatic play - as well as "hands on" art experiences to foster creativity, self-expression and fine motor skills. Finally, daily story time encourages an ongoing love of literacy, language, phonemic awareness and print recognition.

The Moon and Sun Classes
Sun and Moon Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:15am - 12:30pm
The Fours Program focuses on encouraging children to become independent, critical thinkers who learn through exploration and self-expression.The two classes work together to provide numerous and varied learning opportunities that address all learning styles and interests. The children have many opportunities to engage in interactive play to enhance verbal and social skills during outdoor and freeplay experiences. Classrooms are specifically designed to provide children with opportunities to learn and grow. All learning experiences meet the goals and performance standards of the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS). Daily story time and related activities including the writing center, foster a love of literacy with topics especially related to young children, while simultaneously building phonemic awareness through rhyming and alliteration.
The curriculum emerges through project work, which stems directly from children’s expressed interests over time. The teachers carefully observe children and document emerging interests. Appropriate topics are then explored through individual and small group activities, which accommodate all styles of learning and developmental areas. This broad-based curriculum allows children to learn problem-solving skills and build self-esteem through meaningful experiences both in the classroom and on-site visits.

The Star Class
Star Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:15am - 1:00pm
The Christ & Holy Trinity Fives Program provides a wonderful bridge between preschool and kindergarten in a dynamic, yet nurturing environment. Our gifted teachers harness the energy and curiosity of this special age and channel it in creative ways to teach literacy, math, scientific exploration and problem-solving skills.
Students develop phonemic awareness and gain exposure to literacy through books and poetry, writing in journals and expository writing. Math skills are introduced through a diverse range of games and activities, including sorting, patterning and sequencing. These academic skills are masterfully woven into an emergent curriculum developed collaboratively among teachers and students. The children’s common interests become catalysts for teacher planning inspired by a unique combination of Reggio Emilia-inspired learning with a project approach.
The school day includes independent exploration as well as group play in various learning centers throughout the classroom. Activities are designed to provide problem solving and investigative opportunities emphasizing higher order thinking. Small group activities promote cooperation, social skills and interaction, while large group activities expose the children to the more formal learning environment encountered in kindergarten. Daily outdoor or gym time promotes gross motor skill development through free play and structured activities.
CHT's Fives Program utilizes a Smartboard for interactive multi-sensory learning, to explore and investigate topics of interest that are initiated by the children. The Smartboard is a valuable tool that is used for collaborative exercises, problem solving, team building, or live video chat interviews with experts in fields relative to the topic of study.
